When I was in third grade, I was asked who my hero was. I said my grandma.
At the time, I probably would have told you it was because she let me spend hours on her computers making questionable digital art in Microsoft Paint. She ran a software company, and her office was basically my personal playground. Looking back, though, I think there was more to it than that. My grandma was a driven, ambitious woman building a career in the tech industry at a time when it was heavily dominated by men. Before I was old enough to understand what that meant, I was watching her chase her goals, build something of her own, and show me what was possible. I just knew she was someone I looked up to. Somewhere between those afternoons at her computer and all that digital doodling, creativity and technology became two things I couldn't imagine separating.
I'm especially drawn to web design, where strategy, visuals, content, and a little bit of problem-solving all come together. I also enjoy branding, illustration, print, and the occasional creative project that doesn't quite fit into a category.
I like asking questions, figuring out the why behind a project, and finding ways to make things both look good and work well. I'm probably going to get a little too excited about typography, color palettes, or a really satisfying layout, but that's part of the job.
I earned my Associate of Arts in Graphic Design from Truckee Meadows Community College and my Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Nevada, Reno. I'm particularly proud of my time at TMCC and the foundation it gave me as a designer. It also shaped how much I value accessible creative education and the opportunities it can create.
After several years working in an agency environment, I've had the opportunity to work on everything from local businesses and nonprofits to nationally recognized brands.
